How to Production a Steel Reducer

Chemical pipe fittings are used to connect two pipes with different diameters. According to different shapes, they are divided into two types: concentric steel reducers and eccentric steel reducers. The reducer materials include stainless steel reducer (304, 304l, 316, 316l), alloy steel reducer, and carbon steel reducer. The reducer materials include No. 20 steel, Q235, Q345, 16Mn, etc.

Production of steel reducer: A steel reducer is a pipe fitting used for pipe diameter. The commonly used forming processes are reducing diameter pressing, expanding diameter pressing or reducing the diameter and expanding diameter pressing. Steel reducers of certain specifications can also be formed by stamping.

1. Diameter reduction/diameter expansion forming
The reduction forming process of steel reducers is to put a tube blank with the same diameter as the large end of the steel reducer into the forming mold, and by pressing along the axial direction of the tube blank, the metal moves along the mold cavity and shrinks into shape. According to the diameter of the steel reducer, it is divided into one-time press forming or multiple press forming.

2. Stamping forming
In addition to using steel pipes as raw materials to produce steel reducers, some specifications of steel reducers can also be produced using steel plates using the stamping forming process. The shape of the punch used for drawing is designed concerning the inner surface dimensions of the steel reducer, and the punch is used to punch and stretch the blanked steel plate into shape.
