12Cr1MoV seamless steel pipe is a high-performance alloy structural steel widely used in the manufacture of high-pressure, ultra-high-pressure, and subcritical power plant boiler superheaters, headers, and main steam ducts. This steel exhibits high thermal strength and oxidation resistance, maintaining these properties even at temperatures of 580°C.
12Cr1MoV seamless steel pipe also offers excellent high-temperature resistance and long-lasting ductility. Furthermore, the production process for 12Cr1MoV seamless steel pipe is relatively simple, resulting in excellent weldability. However, 12Cr1MoV seamless steel pipe is sensitive to normalizing cooling rates. However, long-term use of 12Cr1MoV seamless steel pipe can lead to type II temper brittleness caused by the segregation of impurity elements such as phosphorus at grain boundaries, as well as pearlite spheroidization.
Therefore, this 12Cr1MoV seamless steel pipe is primarily used after normalizing and high-temperature tempering to manufacture superheated steel pipes, conduits, serpentine pipes, and other corresponding forgings for high-pressure equipment operating at temperatures not exceeding 570°C.
Compliant with the GB/T3077-2015 standard, this high-performance alloy offers superior oxidation resistance and thermal strength compared to 12Cr1MoV seamless steel pipe. Its creep limit and ultimate strength are very similar, and it exhibits high plasticity under sustained tension. The steel also offers excellent processability and weldability, but preheating to 300°C before welding and stress relief treatment after welding are required.
